PHILLY COMIX JAM First Anniversary Show!

The PHILLY COMIX JAM, a loose gathering of cartoonists in the greater Philadelphia area who get together in a bar twice a month, to draw comics and kibitz.

WHAT:
To celebrate the one year anniversary of the PHILLY COMIX JAM by presenting a gallery of the finest comics pages we drew over the past year.

Last Night

I was watching the Phillies AND drawing comics at a bar in Philadelphia! That's right, I attended my very first Philly Comix Jam and was very pleased. It felt good to actually make comics again (despite my very crampy right pinky finger). Maybe once they scan some of the pages and put them on their website, I will in turn put some of them on my blog! It's cool, it's not copyright infringement if you helped make it, right?

Anyways, here is a picture I snapped of some of the finished pages chillin' on the mirror.

Nervous Guy: Redux!

So, I decided to try and use Adobe Illustrator to ink some of my cartoons. I kinda rushed through this one (like I do with everything...), but I think the results are pretty great. The lines are nice and clean, and the pressure sensitive pen still allows for expressive strokes. I think this is going to be my new preferred method of cartoon creation from now on. Hot Cha!

Nytimes.com has a very interesting article profiling internet trolls in general, and two trolls in particular. It's definitely worth a read. I just hope they don't catch wind of this drawing, take offense, and steal my credit card number now.

First post! Beat that!

This post is going to be all about drawing tablets. I've been using a computer for "art" for a while now (about 8 years), but up until this past year, I have never used one of those tablets. My computer never came with a tablet, it came with a mouse. So, I used the mouse. And I got pretty good with the mouse. But man, these tablets are pretty fun! I finally got a chance to play with one back in March, and I now have one that I can call my own. So, for your (my) enjoyment, I'm going to share with you the first (hopefully of many) little drawings that I've made with a drawing tablet.
